Ex-Vec Posted March 15, 2006 Report Posted March 15, 2006 I have a kinda liking for all things "chromey" and was disappointed to see the 02 reg Ghia not have any at all. I found a link on this site for the upgrade kit Ford PartsUK Now is this a good price or can I just go to my local Ford dealer and get the bits seperately and cheaper?? And will the new Ghia CHROME door handles fit on an 02 reg? If so any idea of the price for a set from the parts dept? MTIA ;) Quote
briggd01 Posted March 15, 2006 Report Posted March 15, 2006 I purchased the kit from said retailer and was cheaper than local ford garage. Very easy to fit took 20 mins and now looks better! Cool ;) Quote
Ex-Vec Posted March 16, 2006 Author Report Posted March 16, 2006 I purchased the kit from said retailer and was cheaper than local ford garage.Cool :( Cheers. Is the front grille very different from the original. It looks shinier somehow. Quote
briggd01 Posted March 16, 2006 Report Posted March 16, 2006 Instead of Black it's now grey in the middle with Chrome surround. I'd have preffered it to be black but he ho grey's the new black so i hear?? :( Quote
muffking Posted March 18, 2006 Report Posted March 18, 2006 I just bough a '52 plate and mine's not chrome either.I might pay the Quote
Ex-Vec Posted March 18, 2006 Author Report Posted March 18, 2006 Anyone thats bought one of these kits, does the new grill come with the Ford badge. My current one's totally minging and will ruin the look of the kit! Quote
briggd01 Posted March 18, 2006 Report Posted March 18, 2006 Mine came with the Ford Badge as mine was minging as well. Nice and shiney for a few weeks until the stone chips took effect! Quote
Ex-Vec Posted March 21, 2006 Author Report Posted March 21, 2006 Having read a few threads about the "upgrade" I am now worried I'm gonna have to DRILL the bonnet lip to attach the chrome strip above the grille. Please tell me this ain't true  Surely it should push/clip on with these kits?? NOOOO way I'm taking my DeWalt to 11g's worth of motor  Quote
AndeeeH Posted March 21, 2006 Report Posted March 21, 2006 Mr T Oct.22 2004 The trim advertised is the 2004 Ghia trim and it all just clips in with the exception of the bonnet trim which sticks on (you don't need the screws as this would involve drilling the bonnet in an area which tends to get wet and would rust) Hope this answers your worries. :( Andy. briggd01 Posted March 22, 2006 Report Posted March 22, 2006 Yep i thought that as well! Just make sure that you clean the area that the upper chrome strip sticks to first with a good all purpose cleaner then let it dry. I stuck the upper chrome strip on 3 months ago and it's still stuck on nice and firm! No drilling required :D Quote
Ex-Vec Posted April 8, 2006 Author Report Posted April 8, 2006 Fitted the kit just before I went on Holiday! Worth the wedge. Superb newer Galaxy look though, getting the upper and lower grilles out is an absolute biatch! Knuckles part removed and grazes all up my arm from jamming my hand and wrist in behind to work clips out. It must have looked to the neighbours that I was about to assist in the birth of a calf from the front of my car! Fog surrounds and bonnet chrome lip are a synch to remove/refit. Getting the front grille back in takes some nerve as a gentle approach just wouldn't work........fingers crossed....WHHHHAAAACCCKK! Cool  Quote
AJ55YOO Posted April 12, 2006 Report Posted April 12, 2006 Thanks Ex-Vec for the link to Ford Parts website, just purchased said kit from there for my 02' Galaxy. I have been trauling around looking for this facelift kit for ages. I'll be sure to let you know how fitting of it went. Anyone got any pictures of their Galaxy's cosmetic surgery? Quote
AJ55YOO Posted May 9, 2006 Report Posted May 9, 2006 15 minutes to fit.... Bit awkward to get hands in to free old grille, but it didn't require any specialist tools as everything is held in by clips. Well packaged and quick delivery from 'Ford Parts UK'... Quote
mikej Posted July 12, 2006 Report Posted July 12, 2006 Picked up two new inner door handles for left and right fronts , usual peeling off plastic suprised to find out the price less than a Quote

Guest gooner52 Posted August 5, 2006 Report Posted August 5, 2006 the front grill is really kool looking the surrounds around the fogs look cheap and nasty, dont suite the car and i think the early mk2 rear lights are better looking :) Quote
